5 Ways to Deal with Negative or Difficult People

Have you ever had that one negative friend who never has anything positive to say? If you have, you will know that sometimes that negative energy can effect you as well. Life is not as easy as we think it to be. And sometimes things like negative thoughts make it more complicated. Specially when people around you are negative. So here are some ways to deal with them instead of avoiding them.

1. Dig deeper, but stay out of the hole.

It’s always easier to offer someone compassion if you try to understand where they’re coming from. But that can’t completely justify bad behavior. If you show negative people you support their choice to behave badly by reacting with the same bad behavior, you give them no real incentive to make a change (which they may actually want deep down).

It may help to repeat this in your head when you deal with them: “I understand your pain. But I’m most helpful if I don’t feed into it.” This might help you approach them with both kindness and firmness so they don’t bring you down with them.

2. Remember the numbers.

Research shows that people with negative attitudes have significantly higher rates of stress and disease. Someone’s mental state plays a huge role in their physical health. If someone’s making life difficult for people around them, you can be sure they’re doing worse for themselves.

What a sad reality, that someone has so much pain inside them they have to act out just to feel some sense of relief–even if that relief comes from getting a rise out of people. When you remember how much a difficult person is suffering, it’s easier to stay focused on minimizing negativity, as opposed to defending yourself.

3. Don’t try to solve or fix them. Just aim to help them.

This goes back to the ideas I mentioned above. I know my depressed friend will rant about life’s injustices as long as I let her. Part of me feels tempted to play amateur psychiatrist, get her talking, and then try to help her reframe situations into a more positive light.

Then I remind myself that I can’t change her whole way of being in one phone call. She has to want that. I also can’t listen for hours on end, as I’ve done in the past. But I can listen compassionately for a short while and then help her focus on something positive right now, in this moment.

4. Maintain the relationship based on reality as it is.

With my friend, I’m always wishing she could be more positive. I consistently put myself in situations where I feel bad because I want to help, because I want her to be happy. I’ve recently realized the best I can do is accept her as she is, let her know I believe in her ability to be happy, and then give her space to make the choice.

5. Question what you’re getting out of it.

Like I mentioned above, we often get something out of relationships with negative people. Get real honest with yourself: have you fallen into a caretaker role because it makes you feel needed? Have you maintained the relationship so you can gossip about this person in a holier-than-thou way with others? Do you have some sort of stake in keeping the things the way they are?

Questioning yourself helps you change the way you respond–which is really all you can control. You can’t make someone think, feel, or act differently. You can be as kind as possible or as combative as possible, and still not change reality for someone else. All you can control is what you think and do–and then do your best to help them without hurting yourself.

Tinext niya ako at gusto niya makipag-kita.

At bigla akong nagising.

Symbolic Food and Recipes to Celebrate Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is recognized by a number of names. It is called Lunar New Year, Spring Festival and Gua Nian in Chinese. Chinese New Year is one of the longest celebrations as it is carried out for 15 days. It begins with the first new moon of the Lunar New Year and ends on the full moon day.

Celebrations are marked with parades, dinners, reunions, exchange gifts, food festivals, lion dances, dragons and more. People follow year-old traditions during the two-week celebrations and hold reunion dinners. Cleaning and decorating the houses are major rituals of the Chinese New Year celebration. All these are done before New Year's Eve day.

A big part of any holiday tradition is, of course, food and drink. When I think of parties, celebrations, reunions and other events tied to specific holidays, I can't help but also think of the foods on the table and the drinks overflowing in our glasses as they said "cheers," "santé," "l'chaim," "prost," and the like. That certainly holds true for New Year celebrations - on any calendar. And, at the end of this month, families and friends will come together again to ring in the Chinese New Year - and say "gan bei" and "yam sing."

The foods enjoyed during New Year are similar to those consumed during the rest of the year, but with a special emphasis on bringing luck in the coming year. Potstickers and dumplings, for instance, are eaten across China every day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But New Year potstickers are special, shaped to resemble gold and silver ingots to bring wealth in the year ahead. Peanuts are said to bring long life, so during New Year celebrations some cooks will add peanuts to potsticker filling. And the shape of spring rolls already resembles gold bars, so more of these are eaten during New Year than any other time.

Rhonda Parkinson, list down some of the foods that has symbolic meaning they prepares during Chinese New Year.

Symbolic Chinese Foods
What are the symbolic meanings of a certain foods? It is based on the appearances or how it looks on occasion.
Just like for example, serving noodles will stand for a long life; an old superstition says that it's bad luck to cut them. Serving a whole chicken through the Chinese New Year season symbolizes family togetherness. Both clams and Spring Rolls symbolize wealth; clams because of their resemblance to bouillon, and Spring Rolls because their shape is similar to gold bars.

On the other hand, a food may have special significance during Chinese New Year because of the way the Chinese word for it sounds. For example, the Cantonese word for lettuce sounds like rising fortune, so it is very common to serve a lettuce wrap filled with other lucky food. Tangerines and oranges are passed out freely during Chinese New Year as the words for tangerine and orange sound like luck and wealth, respectively. And let's not forget pomelos. This large ancestor of the grapefruit signifies abundance, as the Chinese word for pomelo sounds like the word for "to have."

Fish also play a large role in festive celebrations. The word for fish, "Yu," sounds like the words both for wish and abundance. As a result, on New Year's Eve it is customary to serve a fish at the end of the evening meal, symbolizing a wish for abundance in the coming year. For added symbolism, the fish is served whole, with head and tail attached, symbolizing a good beginning and ending for the coming year.

And what about the sweet, steamed cakes that are so popular during the Chinese New Year season? Cakes such as Sticky Rice Cake have symbolic significance on many levels. Their sweetness symbolizes a rich, sweet life, while the layers symbolize rising abundance for the coming year. Finally, the round shape signifies family reunion.

So if you missed the fireworks and celebrations on New Year's Eve, don't worry - you'll have another chance to celebrate. Chinese New Year falls on January 31 in 2014. It is the Year of the Horse.

BRIDE FOR RENT-nakakakilig!

It's been a long time when Maica, Zia Jackie, Zia  Mely and I to go out and have a time to bond with each other.

So after the wedding, we decided to go out and go to SM North and Trinoma, which we watched a very entertaining, surprising, amazing movie- Bride for Rent starring the KimXi loveteam- Kim Chui and Xian Lim.

The movie was a romance-comedy movie, and it was very entertaining we the four ladies can't stop laughing and we really enjoy the show.

nakakakilig talaga! it is the best movie date with your love ones like us, my cousins and I really had a good time inside the cinema.

Maica at the end want to watch again the movie but we have curfew time that time.

we also want to go to the Circle just to have fun with each other, but we need to go home.

That's why next time we will make sure that we spend together equally and we will enjoy.

Coz we girls just wanna have fun! :)

Best Day ever (Thine-Dhen)

Every people has their best day ever in their life.

January 28, 2014 was the best day ever between my sister ate Thine and kuya Dennis.

They take a vow at the Saint Peter Parish Church at Commonwealth, Quezon City.

The said event was amazing. And that's like are reunion too.

Because my mommy Baket wa ther, my Father was there and some of my tito's, Tita's and cousins are all present on that big day. And of course the parents of the groom, friends and siblings are also present.

Their best day ever where all started at the church and after that, we procede to the reception of the wedding which is at Alexander III along Quezon City hall.

The reception was good, the buffet where there to full on out hubgry tummies, and the photo booth was also there that I think that was the part we enjoyed a lot with my cousins because we are addicted in taking pictures everywhere, anywhere.

And the event more became happy when some of the bride's and groom's friends are there, and also some of our cousins, especially because our cousins from Italy are also there, and her daughter Maica.

I can't believe that the kid that I was just taking care when I was in Elementary is taller now than me. Hahaha!

However, I am so glad that she's still know me and we're still close to each other even if we haven't seen for how many years.

In the end, the party was so amazing and we are all happy for ate Thine and kuya Dennis.

After that we came home and everyone was sharing/talking about something just like the whole family did.

When I was your girl

I was too naïve to realize that I should've trust you,
I shouldn't have let go of your soft hand,
I should've held your hand like I was proud that you're mine.
I should've made time for you, for us.
I shouldn't afraid to express my feelings for you,
I should've told you how much I loved you.
I should've chosen you instead of my stupid pride, instead of doubt, instead of fear.

although it will hurt like hell,
I should tell you now that it was my mistake.
I know its late already but I'm sorry...
For everything...

I should've loved you the way you loved me when I was a girl.

THAT'S WHEN SOMETHING WONDERFUL HAPPENNED

They call it beauty pageant
-thats when something wonderful happened

Yes, its my 3rd time to join this kind of contest, nung una gusto ko lang naman subukang rumampa sa harap ng maraming tao and unexpected I got the title as Ms. Intramurals 2010 sa school lang naman yun.

Tapos after 2 years I'd tried again because people around me convinced me to joined MS. San antonino sa barangay na namin un and I said sige last na 'to di ko naman gustong sumali pero ginusto ko na din for the 2nd time and I bring home the bacon for the second time.

Last april 18 2013 I joined another beauty contest actually ayaw ko na talaga sana kasi inisip ko pano if matatalo lang ako nakakahiya, pero dahil nanalo na ako ng dalawang beses at dahil para un sa simbahan namin nag sige parin ako ung church naman na kasi ung tumawag kaya naisip ko its time para naman gawin ko ang isang bagay para sa church, and I'm so grateful coz God given me a chance to get the title.

I cried before and after MC's announced the winner why? Kasi akala ko talo na ako bumaba
ako sa stage at umiyak (aaminin kong hindi ko na naisip ang salitang sportmanship at that night) pero after a few minutes bumalik ako sa stage and they start to announced the winners. At last, I heard my name, hindi ko alam kong anong gagawin ko, yes, I get emotional at that night tears down on my face maybe bcoz I expect nothing but to loose. I dint expect to win.

Basta umiyak nalang ako kasi GOD was so great!, alam ko naman sa sarili ko na hindi ako pang beauty queen not like other beauty queen winners who are tall, with a perfect body shape, skinny skin. Pero see everytime I joined beauty pageant I always bring homer the bacon, (excuse me, walang luto o daya yan) nakapag outside the barangay na nga ako eh!.

Nakakatuwa lang kasi I erxpect nothing, minsan nga sinasabi ko sa sarili kong worthless ako, binababa ko rin ang tingin ko sa sarili ko para bang wala akong lugar, wala akong tiwala sa sarili ko, pero after everything, I win this kind of contest, nabubuhayan ako, ang mahalaga lang talaga BELIEVE in yourself, feeling ko nga talaga wala akong lugar sa pageant na yan but everytime I see my sashes, my trophies, my certificates nakakagaan ng pakiramdam kaya ko palang gawin ang mga bagay na ang alam ko'y di ko kaya, kaya ko rin palang abutin ang mga kayang abutin ng mga iba, may lugar din pala ako sa lugar na ito, all u have to do is to have a determination, a willingness, a self confidence, believe in your self and of course believe in GOD ALMIGHTY!.

WHAT’S MORE ON ISABELA?

Isabela province is magnificently exceptional.

There are a lot of beautiful places which are undiscovered, but Isabelinos are really doing their best to make it beautiful and to attract more tourists.

In Isabela you can see the beauty of Magat Dam, its color blue and clean environment will show you here.

Its home to the world’s largest butaka (chair with long arm rests).

And one of the best place I go where the Sta. Victoria Cave and Falls, where you can explore the whole cave by stages by stages it makes harder and more challenge you
to get inside the cave.

And the water of the falls where very clear and cold, it relaxes your body whenever you go and take a bath here.

There are also a lot of adventure place that will sure you to enjoy, really enjoy!.

Next is the;
The raw appeal of Divilican is what draws fearless travelers. Tucked in the wilderness of this enormous province. Fueled generators are the source of power. Undeveloped Dicatian Lake is a crocodile sanctuary that The Mabuwaya Organization releases young hatchlings into. But Divilican’s most remarkable gem is the Dumagats – the indigenous group of the municipality’s original settlers. The dark-skinned, curly-haired Dumagats are semi-nomadic, living off of fishing and hunting. You can meet these modest and kind people at Dicatian Mangrove Forest.
Up north of Divilican is another sleepy town – Maconacan. This is where the Dumagats are really based. You can usually catch them fishing at the Blos River (Dicatayan River).  While you’re in the area you should head to Romualdez Beach, a charming pebble beach; and Dimanoc Beach, a nestling ground for turtles.

If you’re looking for something even more off the beaten path, head to Dinapigue

and visit the towering Dibulo Falls. You also might like to visit Palanan, where the first president of the Philippines, General Emilio Aguinaldo, took his last stand against American soldiers. There’s also Digoyo and Diminalno Lake, Sad-sad Falls, Kanasamuan Cave, and the white sand beaches of Dicotcotan and Didadungan.

Red bricks make up Tumauini Church.

And the San Pablo church which remain as one of the heritage.

And one of the best shoe in Isabela was the BAMBANTI FESTIVAL, reminds every Isabelinos have a great smile that show off to other places.

And here are some of the pictures ;

It has a signature noodle dish – Pansit Cabagan

It's not the end because there are also a lot of foods mostly Ilocano foods and I make sure you want it again and again to come back there.

And there is also a white beach here which you can go this coming summer 2014. And it is the Dinapigue Beach of Isabela.

ISABELA was also known as one of the place where beautiful ladies are here. And one of these were Mutya Datul the first Filipina who got the title for Miss Supranational.
